LEICESTER, Mass. — Leicester's Special Education Parent Advisory Council will welcome guest speaker Anita Poulin to its January meeting Thursday, Jan. 10, to speak on sensory sensory integration therapy.
Continuing its mission to offer resources, education and a network of support to district parents and the Leicester community, the council's monthly meetings feature speakers on special education topics.
Thursday's program will focus on sensory integration and provide information on sensory disorders.
"Some children are sensitive to noise or touch, and there are occupational therapists who work with them doing sensory exercises to help," said Suzanne Morneau, Leicester's administrator of special education.
Poulin, OTR/L, of Kids OT in Charlton, is a clinical specialist in pediatric occupational therapy with experience in developmental and sensory integration therapy.
In 2006, she incorporated Kids OT and began full-time work providing private occupational therapy. Poulin presents training programs to agencies and communities in Central Massachusetts.
She is nationally certified and licensed to practice in Massachusetts with specialty certifications in SIPT, AMPS and developmental testing.
The meeting will be 7 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Leicester Primary School.
