Leicester Children Head Back To School

LEICESTER, Mass. — Most of Leicester's young ones will be heading back to school Thursday, and for those entering kindergarten at Leicester Primary School next Monday, saying goodbye to mom and dad at the bus stop will be their first big step toward officially becoming students.

Along with the rest of the district, primary school first and second-graders will start the school year on Thursday, Aug. 23, while students entering kindergarten will have a screening appointment on Thursday, Aug. 23 or Friday, Aug. 24. The first official day of school for kindergarten students is Monday, Aug. 27.

Whether it's kindergartners or seniors, however, the first day of school is still a big deal, often setting the stage for the entire year of activities and lessons to be learned.

So for students, The Leicester Daily Voice wants to know, how was your first day? Did the bus come on time? Is fifth grade everything you thought it would be? Do you think you'll be able to get over not having recess anymore?

And, let’s not forget about the parents, how was your first day without children around? Let us know how you plan on spending it.

Also, submit your photos for our first day of school feature to dcastro@dailyvoice.com.
