DOVER, N.H. — Attorney General Jane Young couldn't say much, but in a 3:30 p.m. press conference she announced that the search for the body of Westborough's Lizzi Marriott is ongoing and will continue until she is found.
Young, standing on the lawn outside of the Dover District Court, confirmed the murder, charged to Seth Mazzaglia of Dover, occurred in an apartment at the complex Marriott visited last Tuesday night. She said "credible evidence" has led police and investigators to Peirce Island in Portsmouth, N.H., where they believe the body will be found.
"Marine Patrol continues to search the waters, specifically they're looking at the lookout points of Peirce Island," Young said. "Given the eddies and the current, there have been a umber of challenges."
Marine Patrol is employing sonar and underwater cameras, she said. A Marine Control boat could be seen circling the area off the coast of Peirce Island for the better part of Monday afternoon.
"We're exploring the possibility of bringing in dogs," Young said.
Because the affidavit is sealed, Young could not release any of the evidence pertaining to the murder. Young did confirm that the two knew each other and that Marriott's car was located by police in a UNH parking lot on Friday.
"They were familiar with one another and this is not a random incident," she said. "The general public is not in harm."
The Dover police will take over the investigation and any further information pertaining to the case at (603) 742-4646.
