In June, we challenged everyone at Memorial School to read at least four “just right” books of their choice during the summer. This challenge wasn’t just for students. It was for each and every person at Memorial School. We want to show our students that we are a community of readers.
As an additional incentive for students, we raffled off a Kindle Fire. Students earned tickets based on the number of books they read. Mason Deary, a fourth grader, was the lucky winner of the Kindle.
Now that school has begun, the grand total has been tallied. Together we read 1,888 books! Maybe next summer we’ll try for 2,000!
