LEICESTER, Mass. – Next weekend, Santa Claus will be trading in his traditional sleigh and the light of Rudolph's red nose for a shiny red fire truck and its bright flashing lights as he rides into Leicester for the Jolly Christmas Party for the kids sponsored by Parks and Recreation and LCAC.
"We'd like to give someone back and we think the kids need something for the holidays,” said Parks and Rec’s Bob Pingeton. "We are a non-profit organization, but with the money we raise we like to give it back to the town. So this will be great, we'll raise a little Christmas spirit.
This year, the two groups have joined forces to put on the best Christmas Party for the town's children then ever before, with the arrival of Old St. Nick on the Leicester Fire Department's truck kicking off a celebration filled with Christmas music, movies, pizza, hotdogs and delicious holiday treats.
"It should be a good day" said Pingeton, "We're trying to take it to another level this year."
Residents are invited to join in on the seasonal fun at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Leicester Senior Center.
