LEICESTER, Mass. — From stunning old Porsches to classic Corvettes, vintage cars lined the town common for Leicester's Beatles for Sale Concert and Cruise night Thursday, giving residents a trip through time as the tribute band progressed through eras of Beatles hits.
The annual cruise night has been one of the most popular events of Leicester Concerts on the Common series, according to coordinator Judy Ivel, and hundreds of people turned out to enjoy the nostalgic show.
Ivel said the biggest draw of the year will be next week's performance by the Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band, Changes in Latitude, when the Leicester town common is transformed into a beach party. The concert will be presented from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m Wednesday, sponsored by Mapfre / Commerce Insurance & G.E. McKenna Insurance Agency.
The series of eight, free public concerts is organized by the Leicester Summer Concert Committee, with all funding coming from arts grants, contribution from various banks around the community, and a Pass the Hat.
