LEICESTER, Mass. — Anglers are invited to head out onto the ice in Webster for a day of fun and fishing Feb. 16, as Leicester resident Dan Kenney holds his 10th Annual Fishing Derby to benefit kids with diabetes at Camp Joslin.

He is a seasoned veteran ice fisherman and the host of Charter TV-3's "Go Fish with Dan Kenney." He has held the fundraiser for the past 10 years.

The event raises about $10,000 each year for families who otherwise would not be able to afford sending their children to Summer Camp, according to Kenney.

Proceeds also go toward purchasing items such as fishing gear, row boats, canoes, kayaks and other water sports equipment for the campers to enjoy.

First and second place prizes will be awarded in each category of fish: bass, perch and pickerel.

Prizes have been donated by sponsors that include: New Balance, Klem's, Polar Kraft, Okuma Fishing, Yamamoto, Home Depot, Wal-mart, Booyah, Bomber, Yum, D&G Bait/Tackle, Northeast Pizza, Indian Hill Ice Traps, Grizz Baits, Mike’s Donuts, LCAC-TV, Charlie Moore, The TJX Companies Inc. Yamaha and Rockingham Boat.

The event will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Webster Lake, Memorial Beach, Webster.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. A minimum $20 donation must be paid, with all proceeds going to benefit Camp Joslin. Children under 12 fish for free.
