Hearts for Heat Keeps Community Warm

LEICESTER, Mass. - As the snap of cold hits Central Massachusetts, the Leicester Chapter of Hearts for Heat is there for the community to turn to for warmth.

Leicester Hearts for Heat will be going in into its fourth season after helping many local families heat their homes through the Winters.

Because Hearts for Heat is a private organization, its rules are not as rigid as other heating assistance programs, allowing people who might not qualify elsewhere to get the help they need.

Applications are 100 percent confidential, and while a board approves the situation, only Leicester Chapter creator Deborah Antanavica knows the individual applying for help.

In the past, the entire community has really rallied behind the organization, with a cataclysm class selling cookies to raise funds, donations coming in from teachers and the mother's club, as well as through a recent Wine and Beer Tasting Fundraiser.

Hearts for Heat takes applications for assistance throughout the winter, and will help households regardless of what fuel source they use, whether it be gas, oil, wood, or even coal.
