LEICESTER, Mass. — The Cub Scouts of Leicester Pack 123 went head-to-head in the annual Rain Gutter Regatta, blowing little storms behind the sails of their seaworthy vessels to race them across parallel channels.
The boys met at St Joseph's Church, where they set up rain gutters to launch their racers. Using techniques that varied from blowing through a straw, deep steady exhalations or rapid punctuated bursts, the young would-be sailors unleashed small squalls from their lungs as they competed for the champion spot in this year's regatta.
It's one of the many fun-filled activities that Leicester's Cub Scouts have been able to take part in throughout the year, which includes camping trips, Falconry demonstrations, and the much-loved Pinewood Derby.
