Blackstone Valley Bluegrass To Play In Leicester

LEICESTER, Mass. —  Leicester's Concerts on the Common series will continue tonight with the award winning pickin' of the Blackstone Valley Bluegrass Band.

Out of Northbridge, the Blackstone Valley Bluegrass is made up of brothers Dave Dick on banjo and Bob Dick on guitar, with Dan Nowlan on mandolin and Ken Taylor on upright bass.

The multi-talented instrumentalists have been together for over a dozen years, and play a wide range of bluegrass styles, known for their "powerful three and four part harmonies and fast but tasteful picking" according to their bio.

The series of eight, free public concerts is organized by the Leicester Summer Concert Committee, with all funding coming from arts grants, contribution from various banks around the community, and a Pass the Hat.

The concert will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, with a rain date of July 26 on the Leicester Town Common.
