LEICESTER, Mass. — The Leicester Historical Society invites residents to take a trip back into the 19th century with Massachusetts abolitionist and author Lydia Maria Child on Feb. 18.
Remembered for her fiction, “The Frugal Housewife” and poem “Over the River and Through the Woods” the author will be portrayed by Victoria Belisle, a costumed interpreter at Old Sturbridge Village.
"Everyone is welcome to join us for this glimpse into the life of an antebellum author from Massachusetts," said Historical Society member Diane Calvano.
The program is supported by a grant from the Leicester Arts Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
The Leicester Historical Society will present An Evening with Lydia Maria Child at at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18. at the Leicester Senior Center, 40 Winslow Ave.
Refreshments will be served after the program.
