LEICESTER, Mass. — The Leicester Little League Fishing Derby is set to go on Saturday, Feb. 23, after it was canceled last weekend when a blizzard dropped more than 27 inches of snow over Sargent Pond.
The annual event helps raise funds for the Little League's spring season. Once again, the organization is inviting fishermen and families to come out for a fun day on the ice.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the biggest bass, perch and pickerel, based on weight and length.
Registration is $20 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Fishing licenses are required.
The derby will run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, on Sargent Pond behind the Castle Restaurant.
