LEICESTER, Mass. — Leicester's chapter of Hearts For Heat is helping to keep the community warm this winter, and residents are invited to support the organization at this Friday's Wine and Beer tasting fundraiser in Spencer.
Last year, Hearts for Heat provided 3,769 gallons of fuel for heat in Leicester, and with a cold start to 2013, chapter creator Deborah Antanavica said new families have also made requests for assistance.
To get the organization through its 2012-2013 season, Hearts for Heat has relied on grants, donations and fundraisers in the community.
Antanavica said local businesses were also very generous in their support this year, after a number of them responded to a mailing she sent in December.
From 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, Spencer Country Inn and Country Spirits will sponsor a wine and beer fundraiser to further raise money for the program.
A variety of wines and beers, as well as food from local restaurants will be served, and music will be provided by Starlite Entertainment.
The event will raise fund for all Hearts for Heat programs, including those in Princeton, North Brookfield and Spencer.
Proceeds from all advance tickets will benefit Leicester directly.
Tickets are available at The Hair Force in Leicester for $20, or by calling Antanavica at (508) 892-3086. Tickets will also available at the door for $25.
Spencer Country Inn is located at 500 Main St. in Spencer.
