LEICESTER, Mass. — Leicester Fire Department's Station 3 will hold a yard sale fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 29, and residents are invited to help support the Rochdale station's general fund by donating items for the event.

According to Capt. William Broullon, Company 3's yearly fundraisers are seperate from the town's fire department operations budget, and instead help generate money for events like the annual Halloween Parade and other station projects.

"The money from this particular fundraiser will go directly toward the station's general fund, which we plan on using to modernize and update our meeting room," said Broullon.

The idea for the yard sale came from Station 3 firefighter Kristopher Soucie, and since word started spreading on Facebook and throughout town, residents have already contributed a wide variety of items to be sold.

"I've received phone calls and emails from people saying, 'we have a patio set,' or books or toys that they've boxed up for us," said Angela Soucie. "I know a lot of guys on the fire department have been saying 'we have a truck full,' or 'we're going to pick up a load' from so-and-so, so there's a lot."

The station is looking for any gently used items, including: furniture, baby items, electronics, DVDs, appliances, clothing, jewelry, books, toys, sports equipment and more. Firefighters will be collecting items up until Sept. 26.

Residents are invited to join Company 3 for their huge yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at 1055 Stafford St., Rochdale.

Anyone looking to donate can either call Broullon at 774-696-9922 or contact Soucie through the Facebook event page.
