LEICESTER, Mass. — Leicester's young ghouls and ghosts are invited to come out once again for Leicester Fire Department Company 3's annual Halloween Horrible's Parade on Oct. 31.
The Halloween tradition goes back more than fifty years, and is looked forward to each year by the families in the community.
Leicester firefighter Marc Antanavica remembers dressing up each year when he was young to participate in the parade, and now enjoys seeing the smiles on his own kids when they get to march down Stafford Street among the hundreds of trick-or-treaters.
"We get from 200 to 250 kids every year," he said, explaining that the event is one of the ways the station tries to give back to the community.
Once again, the parade of paranormal activity will start at 6:30 p.m. from Robidoux Hairstyling For Men at 880 Pleasant St., and with fire trucks and police cars lighting the way, children will proceed down to the park on Stafford Street.
After haunting the park and circling around in a spooky swirl, the caravan of creatures will head back to the fire station for candy and prizes, and firefighters will award Toys 'R' Us gift cards to the five best costumes.
